It is some red eyes!!

The eyes may exert a myriad of immunological responses which can result in inflammation of the conjunctiva and cornea. The cornea is that clear outer portion of the eye that serves as a soldier against criminals like dirt, germs and other things. What we colloquially refer to as the 'white of the eye' is brother cornea plus sister sclera. A mnemonic easy to recollect, isn't it?

Allergic conjunctivitis could be treated with drugs like antihistamines and anti-inflammatory agents such as steroids. What these ones do is to modify the immune response of the eye to an allergen or irritants. It calms the haywire or crazy eye, lol! Let's move to the one with the 'tush' name, Agave Americana.

Agave americana is called American Aloe or the century part. All these names were given probably because people have been wowed by its inflammatory effects. According to Misra et al., 2018, a Pharmacognosy-based research, this plant has flavonoids and genins that have anti-swelling action in the acute phase of inflammation. It can be used similarly to your over the shelf eye drops in Nigeria to minimize inflammation and reduce irritation.

1) Prepare an infusion for 15 minutes of 5 tablespoonfuls of dried leaves per liter of water.

2) filter well and apply to the irritated/bruised or inflamed eye by means of a gauze dipped in the liquid.

Well, this is not advisable in children much less than 4 years old, and this does not necessarily preclude use of medical help. But guys, this could really works wonders.

Merci!
